Day 2: Arusha - Tarangire National Park

Distance Arusha - Tarangire NP: approx. 140 km Travel time: approx. 180 minutes

Distance Tarangire NP - Karatu: approx. 100 km Travel time: approx. 150 minutes

After breakfast we drive to Tarangire National Park for a morning game drive. The park stretches along the Tarangire River and is characterised by open tree savannahs, hills and crags, grasslands and monkey bread trees. The south is characterized by huge swamps. Both the river and the swamps act as a magnet for wildlife during Tanzania's dry season. One of the highlights of this park is the highest population density of elephants. Herds of up to 300 elephants search for underground rivers in the dry riverbed every day, while migratory wildebeests, zebras, buffalos, impalas, gazelles, hartebeests and elk populate the shrinking waterholes. In the early afternoon you will have lunch with a relaxed picnic overlooking the Tarangire River. Then continue to Karatu town where you will stay at

Olea Farm Lodge.

Day 3: Karatu- Olduvai Gorge - Massai Village - Central Serengeti National Park

Distance: approx. 200 km Travel time: approx. 240 minutes

Today you can get to know several special places in Tanzania. On your way to the Serengeti National Park, you will cross the Ngorongoro nature reserve and make your first stop in a Massai village, a Manyatta. There you will have the opportunity to get to know the Massai, an East African ethnic group, better and get an insight into their unique customs and everyday life. The Massai tribe is located in southern Kenya and northern Tanzania. They live in small houses, the Bomas, which consist of a mixture of mud, wood, sticks, grass, cow dung, human urine and ash. You can recognize the Massai by their traditional clothing. They wear red and blue sheets that are cleverly wrapped around their bodies. The traditional look is rounded off by colourful, beautiful African jewellery.

After visiting the Massai, we continue to the Olduvai Gorge, one of the most important prehistoric and archaeological sites in the world, located in the eastern Serengeti plains within the Ngorongoro Reserve. The gorge is also commonly referred to as the "cradle of humanity", as it has revealed the remains of the earliest humans who contributed to a greater understanding of human evolution. After these numerous cultural encounters and historical insights, you will drive to the Osinon Camp for dinner and overnight and end your evening in the midst of the Serengeti.

Day 4: Northern Serengeti National Park

Distance: approx. 110 km Travel time: 90 minutes

The Serengeti National Park will be your exploration area for the next two days. You have the opportunity to explore this fascinating area and its wild inhabitants on a drive through the vast Serengeti plains. After breakfast, drive to the northern Kogatende area, near the Kenyan border. Your game drive takes you along the Mara River and other interesting places in the north where large groups of wildebeests may be found. It is the migration for which the Serengeti is most famous - over a million wildebeests and about 200,000 zebras flow from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains of October and November, and west and north after the long rains of April, May and June. When you stand in the midst of thousands of mooing wildebeests, snorting zebras and antelopes during the game drives and hear the roar of lions and the howl of hyenas in the evening, this is an experience as intense as only original Africa can offer.
After the full day game drive, drive back to Osinon Camp for a warm dinner.

Stop at Ngorongoro Crater and descend almost 600 metres into this magnificent crater. The crater is one of the most densely populated wildlife areas in Africa and is home to an estimated 30,000 animals, including some of Tanzania's last remaining black rhino. Here you also have the chance to see animals such as wildebeests, zebras, buffalos, eland antelopes, warthogs, hippos and giant African elephants.
